  •  Trees for Tibet is a grassroots project set up by the villagers of Low'ah in East Tibet. They are battling the problem of desertification caused by the destruction of 50% of Tibet's ancient forest since the Chinese occupation began. Each year the villagers plant thousands of trees to fight to save their land and way of life.47% of the Worlds population ,in Asia, are dependent on rivers sourced in Tibet eg Indus, Brahmaputra. These rivers are now the most silted in the World because of deforestation in Tibet.Severe flooding, and the death of thousands, in India and Bangladesh has finally been attributed to this problem.
Every day the villagers of Low'ah battle to live their life as Tibetans in an occupied country. Fighting to save their land against desertification and environmental destruction is another battle they don't need.
But these people have taken it upon themselves to fight it, taking out bank loans and each year buying and planting these trees! Please lets help them repay their loans and to fight to save Tibet's environment and their future livelihood.
    Thank you.
